Our Story

Our beloved Grandma passed away and left us a house full of memories. She always wanted her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to enjoy her treasures and keepsakes.

At first, we started with a simple spreadsheet to list everything but we quickly realized this wasn't going to work well. How could we share photos of items? How could family members express interest in specific pieces? How could we preserve the stories behind each treasure?

So we decided to make an app for our family to use. It had pictures, places for family members to claim items, and spaces to leave comments and share memories.

We added lots of features to make information available to anyone in the family - categories to organize items, search functionality, deadlines for claiming, and ways to track who was interested in what.

The app brought our family together in ways we didn't expect. Cousins who hadn't talked in years were sharing stories about Grandma's china cabinet. Great-grandchildren learned about family heirlooms they'd never seen before.

Instead of arguments over who gets what, we had celebrations of family history. Items found their way to the people who would treasure them most, and the stories behind each piece were preserved forever.

Someone suggested we make the app available to other families facing the same challenges. We realized that every family has these precious moments - when loved ones pass away, when parents downsize, when family heirlooms need new homes.

So here it is! Claiming Memories is our gift to families everywhere who want to preserve their heritage, share their stories, and ensure their treasures find loving homes.
